Amateur Photo Competition “Schnappschuss” (Snapshot)

To all you hobby photographers out there—the Naturhistorisches Museum Basel would like to see your favorite nature photo! In conjunction with their special exhibit “Wildlife Photographer of the Year,” they are again organizing a competition for amateur photographers called “Schnappschuss” (Snapshot). Upload your favorite photo in one of several categories and perhaps you can win one of the prizes awarded by the jury. In addition, this year there will be a public vote for the winner of the category “So schön ist unsere Region” (Our region is so beautiful). The three categories are K1 for kids ages 5–15; K2 for adults with photos of animal portraits, animals in their environment, or animal behavior (no photos of pets or animals in zoos or animal parks allowed); and K3 for adults with photos of landscapes, plants, and other natural phenomena.

Anyone who is not a professional photographer can participate by uploading ONE photo to their website (jpg or jpeg; high quality, max. 10 MB; either landscape or portrait; resolution 1920-4520 pixel on the long side, for a total resolution of 5-12 megapixel).

You can submit your photo until Friday, February 19. The public voting for the “beautiful region” category will take place from February 20 to March 5. For the other three categories, the jury will decide the winners in early March, selecting 10 photos from each category. The award ceremony will take place on March 23.
