Baloise Session
October 27–November 11
If your idea of a perfect night out is to attend a concert of your favorite internationally known music star in an intimate setting, with a drink in hand, rather than in a stadium with tens of thousands of screaming fans—then you need to discover the Baloise Session! For 35 years, music fans have been enjoying local and international music stars of the highest caliber in the unique New York-style club setting with round tables and candlelight. The intimacy of the small concert hall, which only seats 1,550 people, contributes to the unforgettable experience of this special event, both for the audiences and the artists! Giant screens ensure that even the audience members seated at the back will not miss any details.
This phenomenal annual concert session, which was nominated as “Festival of the Year” at the Live Entertainment Awards in April 2018, has managed to attract an eclectic mix of great artists from the world of pop, rock, singer-songwriter, soul, funk, blues, jazz, and world music. In previous years, these included such greats as Alicia Keys, B.B. King, Elton John, Eric Clapton, George Ezra, James Blunt, James Brown, Jethro Tull, Joe Cocker, Lionel Ritchie, Mark Knopfler, Miles Davis, Pink, Ray Charles, Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, and UB40.
A unique feature of the Baloise Session is that all concerts are double headers, with two main performers who have something in common. This can be a similar style, history, geographical background, or some other link or shared characteristic that is often surprising.
After two years of pandemic-related cancellation, this year’s Baloise Session will again present an impressive line-up of performers and bands, including one of the hottest U.S. bands, OneRepublic; country-rock powerhouse The BossHoss; Grammy-nominated Lewis Capaldi; Irish melodic and melancholic band Kodaline; Grammy-award winning jazz/blues star Gregory Porter; and improvisational funk-jazz Grammy-winners Snarky Puppy. British pop icon Holly Johnson of Frankie Goes to Hollywood will share an evening with the band Morcheeba; one evening will feature French and Italian singers Zaz and Elisa; and Hamburg-based artists Jan Delay & Disko No. 1 and Zoe Wees will also share the stage.
All concerts will take place in the events hall of the Messe Basel. The refreshment area is open continuously starting at 18:30, and while you are permitted to consume drinks and snacks at the tables in the auditorium, there will be no beverage service at the tables. The concerts tend to sell out quickly so if you are interested, book your tickets fast through Ticketcorner to secure your unforgettable night! To avoid excessively priced tickets or fakes, it is strongly advised to purchase tickets only from official advance ticket sales offices authorized by the Baloise Session, and never from websites run by so-called ticket brokers such as Alltickets, Viagogo, Onlineticketsshop, Worldticketshop, Vienna Ticketoffice, Ticketbande, Ebay, Ricardo and others.
