Basler Ferienpass (Basel Holiday Pass)
If you are planning to be around for part of this summer and are looking for interesting ways to keep your kids busy with creative activities, fun outings, and educational workshops of all kinds, you may want to check out the Basler Ferienpass. This wonderful pass offers access to awesome summertime activities and excursions for children ages 6-16.
Children who have the Basler Ferienpass can participate for free or at reduced prices in the following activities

- They can go on excursions and numerous outings and tours, including visits to a cave, bird park, swimming pools, museums, spend a day as a noble lady or knight in a real castle, and much more. They can also take a trip to the seeing-eye-dog school or to Geneva with its international organizations; journey through Basel’s archeology or go in search of beaver tracks; find out where drinking water comes from; learn about police work; or write their own songs or record their first groove hits in a mobile recording studio.
- They can participate in dozens of creative workshops and classes where they can learn to build a solar boat, their own small grill oven, or their own shadow theater; program a robot; design fashion; make cosmetics; or carve with a pocket knife. Other offers include painting ceramics; constructing light objects out of alabaster; experimenting with various materials in and out of the lab; creating their own video clips with an iPad or their own stop-motion short film; programming their own interactive story, game, or animation with Scratch; or learning how to program with Minecraft. Other workshops offer the opportunity to create a radio show with interviews, surveys, moderation and music; make snacks or mix cool drinks; do magic tricks; or create board games.
- More active kids can experience Mother Nature through their senses or try out archery, boccia, bouldering, casting sport, circus, acrobatics, climbing, fencing, martial arts, self-defense, rowing, or hip-hop dancing. Finally, they can experience a day with horses or lamas.

With 110 different activities to choose from, there is surely something for everyone! The offers are divided into “Grundangebote” (basic offers) that can be enjoyed any time during the school holidays, such as visits to swimming pools or museums, and “Kreativangebote” (creative offers), which only take place on certain dates and for which you need to register in advance. These offers may incur an additional small fee. You can already register online for all tours, workshops, and outings.
