Closure of the Cantonal Vaccination Centers Basel-Stadt and Baselland

Basel-Stadt

The cantonal corona vaccination center Basel-Stadt at Messeplatz will close on Friday, March 10, 2023. After that date, Covid-19 vaccinations will continue to be offered by medical practices, pharmacies, and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH).

The temporarily increased demand for vaccinations with the adapted booster vaccine as part of the autumn/winter vaccination campaign has declined in recent weeks. Currently, vaccinations are still given on one full and two half days of the week (all day Wednesdays, Thursday afternoons, and Friday mornings (https://www.coronaimpfzentrumbasel.ch/).  Until the closure on March 10, 2023, interested parties are still invited to be vaccinated at the vaccination center or to have a booster vaccination given to protect themselves against a severe course of Covid disease.

A weekly updated overview of the vaccination options with opening hours can be found at https://www.coronavirus.bs.ch/Impfen/liste-der-impfstellen-im-kanton-basel-stadt.html.

The health department is currently developing plans to ensure a longer-term basic range of Covid-19 vaccination options in Basel-Stadt beyond the closure of the vaccination center at Messeplatz.

Baselland

The cantonal vaccination center for Baselland in Pratteln will close even earlier, on Friday, January 27. Until then, you still can receive an initial vaccination or booster vaccination at their facilities in the Helvetia Tower at Schloss-Strasse 1a in Pratteln.

If you would like to get vaccinated, you can make an appointment for an initial vaccination (Pfizer or Moderna) or a booster vaccination (Pfizer or Moderna) via their online registration system. Additionally, they are offering walk-in services on Monday, January 16 and 23, from 9:00-12:30.

As in Basel-Stadt, following the closure of the cantonal vaccination center, you can still receive vaccinations in numerous pharmacies and doctor’s offices throughout Baselland.
