Mare Nostrum, the successful trio of Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu, French accordionist Richard Galliano, and Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren, is celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2025 with a new CD. Each of the three is rooted in the musical tradition of their homeland, has developed a personal musical language from it, and brings this into many projects of modern, cross-border, and genre-combining jazz. All three are poets of sound who feel connected in their love of melody, which their new—third—album underlines more than ever. What immediately captivates everyone is the natural thread of conversation that these three virtuosos spontaneously spin out in obvious spiritual and mental affinity.
