24 Hours of Blues

Volkshaus Basel

The Blues Festival Basel association will be holding an intense blues weekend at the Volkshaus in Basel over a 24-hour period this September.
The event starts on Saturday, September 16, with an acoustic (unplugged) concert in the Volkshaus brasserie. Enjoy a delicious lunch from the excellent Volkshaus kitchen while Walter Baumgartner and his Blues Box spoils the audience with a bluesy jam session with well-known guest musicians until late in the afternoon.
In the early evening, friends of the often-underestimated French blues will get their money's worth starting at 19:00 when the celebrated Manu Lanvin rocks the ballroom of the Volkshaus. Later in the evening, American star Marc Broussard from Louisiana will entertain when he combines the classic characteristics of R&B, rock, soul, and contemporary music while actively helping to inspire younger generations for all variants of the blues. At midnight—also in the Volkshaus ballroom—the Basement Saints will play a 45-minute showcase before they perform a late-night jam session with selected guests, until about 02:00.
The popular blues brunch, which has become a beloved tradition, takes place on Sunday morning. While enjoying a sumptuous brunch buffet, guests can first enjoy a great, approximately three-quarter-hour showcase by the up-and-coming Swiss blues superstar Lucky Wüthrich. Afterwards, Lucky will lead the traditional Blues Jam Session with many surprises.
Check out the website to learn more about the individual artists and be sure not to miss this one-of-a-kind event.
Tickets start at CHF 41.50 for the individual concerts, CHF 142.50 for combi concerts, or CHF 335.50 for the entire 24 hours of blues.
