Cellist Anastasia Kobekina dedicates her program "Venezia"—also released as the album "Venice"—to her great love for the lagoon city. The young cellist, born in 1994 into a Russian family of musicians, sees her program as a musical love letter to Venice, which deeply moves and inspires her. In a kaleidoscopic mix, she unites works from different eras and styles: Baroque masters such as Vivaldi and Monteverdi stand alongside modern composers like Silvestrov, Brian Eno, and Caroline Shaw. For Kobekina, each piece is connected to a personal memory of Venice—the shimmering canals, the winding alleyways, or the city's special stillness at night. The cello is a particular focus as an instrument that resembles the human voice and is ideally suited for musical lament. The program is framed by Monteverdi's "Lamento d'Arianna," which her father, Vladimir Kobekin, arranged especially for her. Kobekina succeeds in capturing the diversity and magic of Venice with her program: It is a tribute to the history, art and transience of the city—a musical portrait that combines tradition and the present and takes listeners on a sensual journey. On the program will be works by Claudio Monteverdi, Antonio Vivaldi, Tomaso Albinoni, Gabriela Strozzi, Gabriel Fauré, and Niccolò Paganini.
Tickets are CHF 45 for adults and CHF 15 youths and students.
