In the 2021/22 season, the Mädchenkantorei Basel celebrated its 30th anniversary. When asked to choose a theme for a new choral work with orchestra to mark the occasion, the young singers wanted a project that would reflect and echo their voices politically, socially, and individually. The result is a work for women's voices in several movements that in many different ways brings to life the life of women in Basel and Switzerland in the past, present, and future. Over 50 years after the introduction of universal voting rights for women in Switzerland, they will examine the history of female voices, the present and a future that belongs to the girls! Marius Felix Lange (*1968) processed scenes from Swiss women's history into songs for young women's voices. The award-winning Swiss poet Nora Gomringer (*1980) wrote texts specifically tailored to the work. The Mädchenkantorei Basel will sing alongside the Sinfonieorchester Basel. This anniversary concert, which had to be postponed from 2021/22, will take place on International Women's Day, March 8, as well as on March 10.
Tickets are CHF 40 for adults and CHF 20 for students.
