Albrecht and Bathilde are engaged to be married. But he falls in love with Giselle, who works as a cleaner for his rich family. Their totally different backgrounds and the expectations of his own family complicate their relationship. When his double life is exposed, Giselle, inconsolable and distraught, throws herself to her death. She joins the Wilis, the spirits of the past, and haunts Albrecht in his dreams. In this rousing re-interpretation of a ballet classic, Pontus Lidberg has turned the romantic ballet to original music by Adolphe Adam into a modern evening of dance that addresses contemporary themes and issues.
