Masterpieces by the Japanese pioneer Saburo Teshigawara exclusively for Ballett Basel are performed in this two-part program. The first part of the evening features the world premiere of “Like a Human,” which was created specifically for Ballet Basel. The second part features the Swiss premiere of his successful piece, “Metamorphosis.” In the impressive interplay of light, sound, dance, and body, Teshigawara reveals like a magician what makes us human and what holds us together in our innermost being. Teshigawara's art emerges between haunting images and poetic calligraphies. Dynamically breathing and breathtaking at the same time, theater spaces are transformed into sculptures and bodies into dance poetry, literature into energy.
This poetically pulsating two-act opera with dance and chorus is a unique experience that moves.
