Basel’s City Gardeners Give Away Flower Bulbs
Throughout spring, you can admire hundreds of tulips, daffodils, and other spring flowers in Basel's city-maintained flowerbeds and planters. However, in May the bulbs are taken out of the beds to be replaced by summer flowers. For logistical reasons, the city's gardening department cannot store the bulbs to reuse them next year, but they don't want to throw them away either. Therefore, they are giving them away to Basel's citizens to re-use in their private gardens.
On this day, from 8:00, they will set out crates with the bulbs in 3 locations:
— Karl Barth-Platz
So if you are interested in giving these plants a new life in your garden, you can pick up some bulbs there. But you should try to get there early—only while supplies last!
