The “Basler Geschichtstage” (Basel History Days) are a format for historical exchange on the history of the Basel region. For this third edition, a packed program awaits you—from classic lectures, panel discussions, and city and museum tours to playful formats such as quiz nights, film screenings, and hands-on activities for children and families. Behind the series of events are over 40 freelancers, associations, and institutions who are committed to communicating, researching, and archiving regional history with enthusiasm and expertise.
Under the motto “History moves,” the event week brings the past into the present. The offerings cover topics such as mobility, migration, democracy, subcultures, and sports, while also inviting participants to experience history in a figurative sense as something moving—whether emotionally or actively on site (check out the full program at https://baslergeschichtstage.ch/basler-geschichtstage-2026/). Note that events marked with a checkmark (events with limited seating) require advance reservation via the website.
Tickets for all events for the week are CHF 25 for adults; CHF 15 for people under age 20, students under age 30, and holders of the Schweizer Museumspass, Museums-Pass-Musées, Colourkey and KulturLegi; and free for kids under age 12 (free ticket required). Tickets for one-time admission are CHF 15 for adults, CHF 10 for students and youths under age 20, and free for kids under age 12. Purchase your ticket online; at the first admission check, your digital ticket will be validated and exchanged for a physical ticket.
Tickets can be purchased directly online via the program calendar (partner Eventfrog.ch) or in person at their partner institutions, the Historisches Museum Basel (Barfüsserkirche Basel) or Museum.BL (Liestal); advance ticket sales at these locations have started.
