Basler Krippenweg (Nativity Scene Trail)

Various Locations

The Basler Krippenweg, which is now taking place for the seventh time, invites you to interrupt the fast pace of the season’s rush of planning and shopping, and take a pause to enjoy the Christmas nativity scenes on display. Discreetly and unobtrusively, they remind you of the old, beautiful story of the birth of Jesus that is celebrated in the Christian churches, often also touching those who actually don't (any longer) have much to do with the church and what the church represents.
You can enjoy nativity scenes in 40 store windows and other locations in Basel. Those who get involved with the Basel Nativity Scene Trail hope that their initiative will contribute a beneficial element of contemplation. And they remind us that countless stories of love and solidarity, of friendliness and generosity emerged from the original stories about the newborn child. The Nativity Trail has no starting point or destination—visit their website and click on "Standorte" at the top left, or scroll all the way down for a map of the participating locations, and take a stroll from Schifflände to the Spalentor to take in this very special exhibit of nativity scenes.
