Basler Streichquartett 99 Years Ago and Today

Museum Kleines Klingental
Wednesday, 05 November
19:30

The original Basler Streichquartett (Basel String Quartet), founded 99 years ago, regularly performed works by contemporaries from Basel. For example, Hermann Suter's String Quartet No. 3, "Amselrufe," was performed at the Society for Chamber Music when Suter died in 1926. Hans Münch's String Quartet in C minor, op. 6, was also performed in 1926. The current Basler Streichquartett presents Suter’s work, juxtaposing it with a contemporary work, Mischa Käser's "Moments musicaux" (2023). The piece was written for the quartet and bears the subtitle: "In the silent darkness, my thoughts grow bright, childlike legs."
This concert will be performed by the Basler Streichquartett, consisting of Susanne Mathé and Hyunjong Reents-Kang on violin, Teodor Dimitrov on viola, and Christopher Jepson on cello.
Tickets are CHF 25 in advance and CHF 30 at the box office.
