Basler Streichquartett — Dances From Four Centuries

Stadtcasino Basel
Wednesday, 29 November
19:30-21:00

The Basler Streichquartett (Basel String Quartet) has put together a contrasting, colorful program with dances from four centuries. They will begin with "Hornpipe" and "Monkey's Dance" by Henry Purcell, compare very different minuets by Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and travel into the Slavic world with a folkloric furiant and two waltzes by Antonin Dvorak. Erwin Schulhoff's five pieces for string quartet will include dances from waltz to tarantella, whose character is driven to the point of grotesqueness. Tango will of course be a part of the program, represented with works by Astor Piazzolla and Jakob Gade.
Tickets are CHF 35-45 for adults, CHF 10 for students, and free for children, and are available at https://eventfrog.ch/de/p/klassik-opern/klassik/basler-streichquartett-taenze-aus-vier-jahrhunderten-7118526587838867677.html.
