Benedicte Brænden

Benedicte Brænden from Elverum, Norway, delivers Americana with a twist—an original sound with a unique blend of country noir and a touch of rockabilly, all with Brænden’s signature voice. Many Norwegians know her from “Lyden av Lørdag,” a Norwegian National Broadcasting Corporation show where she was one of the top finalists. Previously, she was the lead singer of the popular rock 'n' roll band Bazooka Boppers, until she decided to pursue a solo career in 2006.
In spring 2007, Brænden had the unique opportunity to tour Germany with the band Tito & Tarantula, known from films like "Desperado" and "From Dusk Till Dawn." This tour opened her to a whole new audience. A short time later she went on another tour, this time with The Boss Hoss; the response was overwhelming. In 2009 she toured Germany as a solo show in front of sold-out houses. Her debut album, “Doghouse Rose,” was released in 2012 to critical acclaim.
"Doghouse Rose," was country rock with influences from artists like Steve Earle and Kasey Chambers. "Blood on Your Hands," Brænden's long-awaited second album, was darker, more mysterious and in some ways more powerful. It was based on a minimalist drum kit and a heavy but groovy double bass, seasoned with organ, trumpets, and accordion. You can almost feel the desert wind and hear the coyotes.
On her third album, “Raging River,” Brænden delivers a remarkable collection of love and loss, struggle and success, connection and separation. After a show at the Stagecoach Festival 2022, the Norwegian artist combines traditional songcraft, tight playing, and skillful instrumentation with brass and passionate strings, bluesy guitar solos, and soulful organ in her Americana.
Tickets are CHF 33 in advance and CHF 35 at the door.
