Best of Switzerland — Heiri Känzig & Michael Zisman / Trio Helveticus

Heiri Känzig and Michael Zisman are less concerned with innovative concepts on stage than with joy in playing, interaction, and energy. The choice of repertoire is primarily for their own fun factor, with the aim of infecting the audience with it. The duo succeeds in something like multiplying Portuguese-Brazilian saudade. The music has a lot of space, lots of poetry, no kitsch. Easy, but difficult to produce. Not New York or Buenos Aires, but both and the whole world in between and all the good winds in their sails.
Daniel Humair was a guest at the Basel jazz workshop together with Joachim Kühn in 1975. It was actually Urs Blindenbacher's first concert as organizer—the start of "Jazz in Basel." For this reason, they want to celebrate Daniel Humair at the 2025 festival along with the super bassist Känzig! You can experience the fascinating collaboration of Humair (drums) Känzig (bass), and Samuel Blaser (trombone) in the extraordinary Trio Helveticus. This power ensemble brings together three of Switzerland's most renowned jazz musicians, each with their own unique musical voice. Together, the three create a musical experience that is both exhilarating and deeply moving. Their performances are characterized by moments of intense improvisation, fine interplay, and a deep feeling of musical camaraderie.
Tickets are CHF 35.10-68.80.
