Bixiga 70 are currently considered the most important representatives of contemporary Afro-Brazilian music. The 10-member powerhouse from the eponymous Bixiga neighborhood in São Paulo combines the traditional music of the region with urban Afrobeat, cumbia, and funk to create a highly danceable sound that regularly captivates audiences on four albums and successful tours around the world. Razor-sharp brass sections compete with a tight rhythm section, while sparkling guitars, arabesque organs, or drums of the Candomblé religion celebrate a wild outer-national party. At their very first Switzerland gig ever, the band will present their new, fifth album “Vapor” at Kaserne!
