The saxophonist Sam Burckhardt (CH/US) leads the Basel Madrigalists into the fascinating world of blues. The adventurous sound journey references the beginnings of monophonic singing in monasteries and leads across several eras and continents to the blues with swinging and artistic gospel settings of today—for once without any electronics, but in the midst of breathtaking acoustics. The musicians play the atmospheric round building of the Pauluskirche from different directions and from several galleries. The audience can look forward to an enjoyable, varied and poetic evening, a concert evening in a class of its own.
