Book Launch — String Figures

Museum Tinguely
Thursday, 06 March
18:00

String figures have been studied as an aesthetic practice, collected as artifacts, and considered as a non-Western way of thinking. Looking at ways of playing together on the ruins of our history, the book “String Figures. A Cultural Practice between Art, Anthropology, and Theory” (edited by Mario Schulze and Sarine Waltenspül and published by Diaphanes 2025) brings together these different threads. It weaves connections between world regions and disciplines in order to re:search, re:define, and re:signify the past and present of a beautiful and complex cultural practice. The speakers will include Seraina Dür and Jonas Gillmann, Ute Holl, Robyn McKenzie, and Nasser Mufti. This event will be held in English.
Admission to this event is free.
