Camerata Variabile — Consolation
The Camerata Variabile will open their season with two of the most comforting works in music literature—the Trio Sonata from Bach's Musical Offering and Mozart's Clarinet Quintet. They explore the question of where the comfort that music can give us comes from. Bach's works perhaps offer this through their religious roots, which is also evident in the all-ordering power of the fugue.
The consolation that emanates from Mozart's Clarinet Quintet is difficult to put into words. Mozart's rude play with the changeability of human feeling is his way of reconciling himself with the human condition—the fact that we are all at the mercy of our fate. Mozart is a musical tour guide who leads us safely through all the highs and lows of our existence on the back of beauty.
With his String Quartet op. 1, the Hungarian composer György Kurtág reinvented himself after a crisis at the age of 33. With this work he found his very own compositional approach that would characterize his music from then on.
Finally, the audience can look forward to the world premiere of “THERE” by Lukas Langlotz.
Tickets are CHF 40 for adults and CHF 20 for students and youths under age 18.
