The beginning of the holiday season brings with it a host of castles in the air and dreamers. From Wagner's “Siegfried Idyll” to Janáček's “Idyll of Youth,” Camerata Variabile approaches an ideal world. You will be treated to a world premiere by Beat Gysin, who has pursued his fascination with the connection between sound and space for many years with the Zeiträume Festival in Basel, and Varèse—a great admirer of Wagner's Gesamtkunstwerk—will lead you into the world of plant architecture with “Octandre.” Stravinsky was a great role model for Varèse, and his “Pulcinella Suite” is also a little castle in the air, a visit to the time of the Commedia dell'arte commissioned by the choreographer Diaghilev with musical quotations from Pergolesi.
