Camerata Variabile — Sky, Clouds, Rain
The motto of Camerata Variabile’s January program is a statement by Franz Schubert (quoted from memory): "People may not remember my music, but the flowers I sang about will never forget me." Two of Schubert’s songs testify to how much he was devoted to nature. And he was not alone in this: Fascination with the magic of rain can also be found in “Rain Spell” by Toru Takemitsu and “Falling Cherry Blossoms”—traditionally a Japanese symbol for the end of the mostly short lives of the samurai—by Toshio Hosokawa in Hosokawa. And then there are clouds upon clouds: Kaija Saariaho studied these in the French Alps; and after the premiere of the commissioned composition by Fabian Müller, which is also about clouds, you will probably understand this weather phenomenon in a completely different way. Finally, Ralph Vaugham Williams' expresses longing for country life and lost innocence in “On Wenlock Edge.” And perhaps all these works remind you that man is only a part of nature and at the end returns to its cycle.
Tickets are CHF 40 for adults and CHF 20 for youths under age 18 and students.
