Chamber Music Concert — Armida Quartet

Stadtcasino Basel
Tuesday, 28 October
19:30

The Armida Quartet, which was was founded in Berlin in the summer of 2006, named itself after one of Joseph Haydn's most successful operas. This reference to the "father of the string quartet" is no coincidence, as the great master himself once said: "My language is understood throughout the world." Making the language of the string quartet understandable is a top priority for the Armida Quartet.
On this evening, alongside mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean, they will be playing Robert Schumann’s “Five Songs on Poems by Queen Mary Stuart,” op. 135; Leoš Janácek’s String Quartet No. 2 “Intimate Letters;” and Brett Dean’s “Madame ma bonne soeur” for string quartet and mezzo-soprano.
Tickets are CHF 33-59 for adults, CHF 23-49 for students under 30, and CHF 5 for youths under age 20.
