The German producers Hermjo Klein and Raoul Schoregge have a combined experience of 25 years of “Riverdance,” 30 years of Chinese National Circus, 35 years of clowns, and 55 years of show experience. In the search for new ways to present shows, this almost inevitably resulted in the vision of an acrobatic show connecting people and culture, underpinned by the unique musical legacy of art icon David Bowie. The result is “China Girl,” a circus theater show with which world-class Chinese acrobatics in a new guise is making its way into the hearts of audiences worldwide. The plot is a transfer of William Shakespeare's “Romeo and Juliet” to New York City—eternal love and fatal enmity between the seedy back alleys, food stalls, junk shops, and high-end restaurants of Manhattan's Chinatown.
