For the 16th season, the organizers of the Heiligenschwendi Christmas Trail have come up with some new features to enchant visitors, both young and old, with the Christmas spirit. The roughly 2.5 km circular trail starts at Heilihof (the old post office bus stop) and leads along the main road toward the Bern Rehabilitation Center. At the Bern Rehabilitation Center playground, the trail turns into the forest and continues clockwise from the Gründerahorn tree around the Winterberg back to Gründerplatz. The classic Christmas story is told at six stations with handcrafted puppets. The stations are illuminated daily from 17:00-22:30. It is recommended, however, to bring a flashlight or headlamp if you visit in the evening.
Heiligenschwendi is located about 90 minutes from Basel by car, but it is recommended to take public transport: Take the train to Thun, then change to the STI bus line 31 or 32.
