Cirque du Soleil — LUZIA

“LUZIA—A Waking Dream of Mexico”, Cirque du Soleil’s 38th original production, will be coming to Zürich for 5 weeks this fall! In a series of grand visual surprises and breath-taking acrobatic performances, “LUZIA” takes audiences on a surreal escape to an imaginary Mexico—a sumptuously vibrant world suspended between dreams and reality. Smoothly passing from an old movie set to the ocean to a smoky dance hall or an arid desert, “LUZIA” journeys through a colorful tapestry of multiple places, faces, and sounds of Mexico taken from both tradition and modernity. Poetically guided by light (“luz” in Spanish) and rain (“lluvia”), “LUZIA” chronicles the encounters of a parachuted traveller with the culture, nature and mythology of a dreamlike land inhabited by a mystifying menagerie of characters.
Refreshing and unexpected, “LUZIA” enchants by artistically incorporating water into the acrobatic presentation—a first for a Cirque du Soleil touring production. A water basin placed under the stage floor allows them to create a rain curtain and to take traditional acrobatic acts out of their usual context and to a new level.
Cirque du Soleil’s “LUZIA” will be performed in their Grand Chapiteau at the Hardturm-Areal in Zürich. They are offering evening shows on most days, as well as afternoon shows on weekends. For exact times see their website.
Ticket prices start at CHF 56; they have reduced prices for children ages 2-12, as well as special family offers. Tickets are available through their website.
