Classical Stars A Cappella — Day 3

Don Bosco Basel
Thursday, 28 December
18:30

From December 26 to 28, various concerts with Europe's leading a capella ensembles will take place for the third time at the Don Bosco Basel Music and Cultural Center as part of the Mini-Festival “Classical Stars A Cappella.” In addition to internationally known ensembles such as Latvian Voices (Riga), Tenebrae (London), and the Calmus Ensemble (Leipzig), local a cappella ensembles from Basel also perform, inviting the audience to open singing after their sets.
On this evening, the first set at 18:30 with Ensemble Singvoll will be entitled “Winter Songs.” It is a multifaceted mix and journey through time with romantic songs, including compositions by Alexis Hollaender and Max Zenger with lyrics by Joseph von Eichendorff, as well as modern compositions and songs from Switzerland, performed in all four national languages.
The second set at 20:00 with the Calmus Ensemble is entitled “Christmas Lights” and presents Christmas music from the Renaissance to pop and jazz. After the stressful days of December, the Calmus Ensemble entices with music beyond the hustle and bustle, presenting Christmas carols in their original simplicity.
Starting at 17:45 as well as between and after the sets, the audience can enjoy Christmas gastronomic offers (mulled wine, etc.) outdoor on the open piazza in front of Don Bosco Basel.
Tickets are CHF 35-65 for set 1+2; festival passes are available from CHF 84-156, and youths get a 50% discount.
