Collegium Musicum Basel — Ksenija!

Ksenija Sidorova is undoubtedly the most famous accordionist in the world. She knows, like no other, how to elicit the most magnificent sounds and facets from this mysterious and versatile instrument. The audience can expect a very special highlight when the Latvian musician meets Astor Piazzolla and takes them into the world of tango with passionate rhythms and striking melodies. In addition to "Winter" and "Spring" from Piazzolla's "The Four Seasons in Buenos Aires," the audience will hear the "Variations on a Theme by Piazzolla" by French accordionist and composer Franck Angelis. As an intermezzo, the orchestra invites the audience to dance to Piazzolla's "Tangazo"—pure tango! The first half of the concert is in sharp contrast to this tango extravaganza: W.A. Mozart's airy, light overture to the opera "Titus" paves the way for Joseph Haydn's "Sinfonia Concertante"—a work for four soloists accompanied by the orchestra.
Tickets are CHF 49-84 for adults and CHF 15 for students.
