In this concert, the Ensemble Ad Fontes takes their audience away to the 16th century Portuguese royal court. Portuguese song books, called Cancioniero, are one of the most important sources of secular music of the Portuguese Renaissance. As a result of the intercultural exchange with the country's colonies, they also show some South American influences. These works embody the essence of Portuguese temperament; elegiac melodies meet fiery rhythms and changes in tempo for a captivating experience.
