Contemporary circus is still an insider tip in German-speaking countries. This type of circus is not about animal training or antics, but about an elegant, powerful game of bodies in space, in which objects are used in a highly creative way, and partner acrobatics are in the foreground.
The Catalan Compañía de Circo "eia" brings together some of the best artists from the European contemporary circus scene. It specializes in shows that continually amaze viewers—muscle strength, concentration, and absolute trust are the recipe for success. In all of the ensemble's pieces, people are the focus. For this show, the members of "eia" present their latest program “NUYE,” which was awarded Best Circus Play/Stage by Premis Zirkolika in 2022. Six acrobats ensure a virtuosic and poetic end to the year around a carefully crafted wall that seems to come to life with its doors, hinges, openings, and diving boards.
