The Cuarteto Quiroga is named after the renowned violinist Manuel Quiroga (1892-1961), who was born in Pontevedra, Galicia. His career came to an end in 1937 when he was hit by a truck in New York, leaving him disabled and later paralyzed in one arm. After its founding in 2004, the quartet studied with Rainer Schmidt in Madrid, Walter Levin in Basel, and Hatto Beyerle. It has won several major quartet competitions and has performed in the most important concert halls and at major festivals in Europe and America. The Cuarteto Quiroga is quartet-in-residence at the Fundación Museo Cerralbo in Madrid, its artistic home.
On this evening, they will be playing string quartets by Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Cécile Marti, and Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn.
Tickets are CHF 38-68 for adults, CHF 28-58 for students under age 30, and CHF 5 for youths under age 20.
