“Cuban Night” — Michael Olivera & The Cuban Jazz Syndicate

Atlantis Basel
Wednesday, 17 April
20:30

Michael Olivera, born in St. Clara/Cuba in 1986, completed his studies at the Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana in 2005 after training in classical percussion. At the age of 26, he moved to Madrid, where he quickly became a sought-after part of the jazz scene. He has been involved in more than 50 albums and numerous projects to date. Olivera has played with Quincy Jones, Richard Bona, Alfredo Rodriguez, Sting, Tomatito, Iván Melón Lewis, Yonathan Avishai, and many others. In 2016, he formed his own band (with Ariel Brínguez, Marco Mezquida, Borja Barrueta, Munir Hossn, Luis Dulzaides, and Miryam Latrece) and released his debut album "Ashé." Now, Olivera brings a new line-up, The Cuban Jazz Syndicate, which brings together the best Cuban artists living in Spain. Chucho Valdés says of Olivera: "Michael Olivera, a young musician with great experience in his career and with important collaborations in different projects opens the way to a new generation of musicians who make a masterful contribution to the evolution of music."
Tickets are CHF 67.80 for seats and CHF 45.30 for standing room.
