Mehdi Kerkouche, who has just choreographed Angèle's latest music video with dancer Amy Swanson (who also is on stage in “Portrait”), immerses the audience here in a contemporary black and white family photo where the abundant personalities meet and confront each other in an electrifying movement.
Through a mosaic of temperaments and energies, the dancers explore the complexity of family ties, filial heritage, and its influence on our identity. How do you build yourself and assert your individuality within a family that you did not choose? At first glance, the family tribe seems so united, before the painting comes alive to reveal that behind the frame, everyone experiences the same ups and downs of life—joys, sorrows, losses, and pleasures.
