“Dangerous Liaison”—in this concert, The Sinfonieorchester TriRhenum Basel and the Big Sound Orchestra Lörrach are on stage at the same time. At first glance, it’s doesn’t seem to be an absolute dream couple. One is an over-the-top luxury machinery that seems to have grown organically from the 19th century with its exquisite weight and depth. The other is a casual jazz formation with snappy brass instruments over a groovy drum engine. How does that fit together? The audience will find out by listening to with works by Kurt Weill, Maria Schneider, and jazz trumpeter Bert Joris, who composed specifically for symphony orchestra and big band and is the soloist on this evening.
Tickets are CHF 30 for adults, CHF 20 for students, and free for kids under age 12.
