Dominic Stahl — In Between
Since 2007, with a lot of volunteer commitment and passion, Piano di Primo has been organizing jazz concerts that enable artists of national and international importance to introduce the audience to tried and tested musical specialties and novel ideas. They are organizing a few events per year in the half-timbered building (Allschwil Local History Museum) in the middle of the idyllic village center of Allschwil, where you can spoil yourself with selected wines, a cold beer, or non-alcoholic refreshments from the bar.
On this evening, listeners and musician will be immersed in an immediate experience that points beyond itself and is able to create a contemplative space. Whether improvisation or composition, classical, jazz, or pop: Swiss artist Dominic Stahl prefers neither one nor the other. He works musically on many different things, wandering from Bach to Mehldau, opening up different worlds in his compositions and improvisations: rhapsodic sounds meet groove; free playing meets clear, sometimes minimalist structures. A piece begins, meanders through an improvisation and finds its way back or goes straight into the next piece. Boundaries become blurred and one imagines oneself in a kind of in-between, in which the music stands on its own, far removed from stylistic classification.
Tickets are CHF 38 (cash only); reserve them online in advance.
