This concert features drummers and percussionists Fritz Hauser, Johannes Fischer, Szilàrd Buti, Domenico Melchiorre, and Leonie Klein. In August 2022, Hauser and Fischer played their concept composition "ANIMA" in the Marktkirche at the Überschlag drum festival in Hanover. The feedback on the concert was enthusiastic—and inspiring. At the invitation of the offbeat festival, a further development of this piece will now be performed in the Martinskirche Basel. These two concerts on May 6 are premieres and are at the same time unique! “ANIMA" is a mixture of concert and sound installation. The Martinskirche sound space is ideal for this concept because the audience is directly involved in the musical events. The instruments are set up all around, the movements of the musicians in the room allow sound wanderings and open up unimagined sound spaces. The instruments are percussive. An almost infinite range of percussive sounds will be used, not least including the Nicophones developed by Lunason. The Martinskirche becomes a walk-in instrument!
