FADO — O Gosto de ser Triste (The Pleasure of Being Sad)

Café Kleiner Wassermann
Friday, 31 May
20:00-22:00

"The pleasure of being sad" is the motto of Portuguese fado music, which emerged in the 19th century in the slums and disreputable bars along the harbor in Lisbon. However, its actual roots are lost in the blur of Lisbon's eventful history. Fado is closely interwoven with the Portuguese lifestyle of “saudade”— this untranslatable Portuguese word that describes something like nostalgia, longing, or melancholy.
Two top-class Fado musicians—Hélder Lopes and Múcio Sá— will be coming to Switzerland in May and will also be stopping at the Unternehmen together with the Swiss fadista Sibil Rossi. Authentic music with a female and a male Fado voice, with guitarradas at their best, with traditional and modern elements will take you to the world cultural heritage of Fado and to the city of Lisbon—quickly, cheaply and climate-friendly! Don't forget tissues!
This concert is free but there will be a collection.
