The rhymed and illustrated stories of the children’s book “Struwwelpeter” (Shock-headed Peter) are well known—for example, “The Story of the Wicked Friederich,” “The story of the Soup-Kaspar,” or “The Story of the Fidgety Philipp.” The Kammerorchester Basel (Chamber Orchestra) sets all nine stories from the book to music, makes music with the Basel Girls Choir, and together with the actor Lukas Magnus Paulsteiner, looks at the book from a different angle.
This family concert explores and experiences various genres of music and addresses questions such as—Why is Friederich so evil in the first place? Why does little Konrad keep sucking his thumb? And how strong can winds be when the story states, “Umbrella and Robert are flying there, through the clouds high in the air."
