The end of Fasnacht on Thursday morning is not really the end, though—there are still the three following Sundays, called “Bummelsonntage” (strolling Sundays), when Fasnacht enthusiasts can enjoy a last dose of at least the Fasnacht music. On those three Sundays, the cliques will return to the city—without their masks and costumes, but with their instruments—to stroll around and play their music on the streets, riverfront, bridges, and ferryboats before they must put away their piccolos and drums for the year. It’s a mixed atmosphere of fun, music, and a bit of melancholy and well worth checking out.
