He was tied to the stake with dental floss, he visited the city of little lights, he was baffled by love—and he always swung to the top vocally… We're talking about Robert "Bobby" Martin, who as lead singer shaped the sound of Frank Zappa's band from 1981 to their farewell tour in 1988. During and after that he also contributed to a long list of productions with big names (Bette Middler, Paul McCartney, Michael McDonald, Prince, Etta James, Patti Labelle, The Moody Blues, and many others). It took two songs at the Zappanale 2022 and the spark was ignited between the American, who doesn’t look or sound his 74 years, and the Swiss tribute band FidoPlaysZappa, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Stylistically confident, virtuosic, humorous, and with their very own approach, FiDO continue to intoxicate themselves and their audience with the great work of Frank Zappa after 20 years. And now, they are welcoming Martin not only as a guest of honor but as the sole lead singer of their program.
Tickets are CHF 35 in advance and CHF 40 at the door.
