Foodsave Banquet Basel
One third of all food is lost on the way from the field to the plate—in Switzerland that's 2.8 million tons a year! About a third of this wasted food spoils in private households.
On this Saturday, as part of the Genusswoche Basel, a broad sponsorship of more than 10 organizations in the field of sustainable nutrition is organizing the first Foodsave banquet in Basel, where the focus will be on everyday food waste. With the participation of the Markthalle Basel, they will be setting up the banquet’s first edition in Basel at the Kaserne (Apéritif starts at 17:00 and the banquet starts at 18:00). Under the guidance of professional chefs, healthy food will be processed into a 3-course meal in a playful and enjoyable way and offered for a voluntary donation.
The Foodsave Bankett idea was developed by foodwaste.ch in Bern and has since been successfully held in various Swiss cities. Organizations that actively or passively support the event in Basel include Basel Unverpackt, Foodsharing Basel, foodwaste.ch, GreenUp, IG Nahrungsmittelforum, kHaus, Lebensmittelnetzwerk Basel, Markthallen AG Basel, Schweizer Tafel, Slow Food Schweiz, Urban Agriculture Basel (UAB), Wert!Stätte, and Zero Waste Switzerland.
