Francesca Tandoi Piano Trio; Chris Potter Trio

On this evening, Jazz Festival Basel will be presenting a double concert entitled “Trilogy—Best Trios in Jazz.”
The highly gifted pianist and talented singer Francesca Tandoi belongs to a new generation that revives and revitalizes straight-ahead jazz. She knows the tradition inside out and draws inspiration from greats like Oscar Peterson, Phineas Newborn, Gene Harris, and Bobby Timmons to find her own unique swing. The Italian pianist has already toured the world with her music and performed at top European festivals such as North Sea Jazz and Umbria Jazz. On social media, she impresses with videos showcasing the extent of her talent and flawless technique, all in service of swing and melody. She will be performing in Basel for the first time with her Italian trio.
Chris Potter, with his energetic and intuitive saxophone playing, is one of the most influential jazz musicians on the American scene. He has also made a name for himself as a composer, thanks to his accomplished arranging skills. A native of Chicago, Potter gave his first professional concert at age 13, and by his early 20s, he was already playing with greats like Charles Mingus, Red Rodney, and John Scofield. Now, the tables have turned, and jazz greats are coming to him—Potter's latest CD features Brad Mehldau, John Patitucci, and Brian Blade. This project is musically directed by arranger and pianist Mike Holober.
Tickets are CHF 46.30-65.70.
