The Touring Club Schweiz (TCS) organizes group bicycle tours in various regions of Switzerland that leave around 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning and return in the late afternoon. Those in the Basel area are mainly held on Thursdays (with a few Saturday tours) and depart from various locations, including Lange Erlen, Allschwil, Muttenz, St. Jakob, Aesch, Pratteln, and Therwil.
For these tours, you meet in the morning, travel through a dozen or so towns, have lunch along the way (bring money) before returning to Basel. The tours may cross into Germany and France, so bring your I.D. You should wear a helmet and bring a repair kit with you (in France, yellow reflective vests are obligatory). Note that fast e-bikes that can go up to 45 km/h (Pedelecs) are not allowed because they are not permitted on the roads in the woods.
All tours are free and no registration is necessary, but you can contact the tour leader in advance if you like. Information for each tour and its respective guide is provided on their website, which can be consulted for a full list of dates and tours.
