Greg Niemczuk — Piano Music by Chopin
Grzegorz (Greg) Niemczuk is widely acclaimed as one of the most captivating and extraordinary Polish artists of his generation. He belongs to the elite group of pianists who have Chopin's entire piano music in their repertoire. His profound interpretations of Chopin's compositions have earned him high recognition. He also was the first Prize winner of the 40th National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2010 and the Carnegie Hall Concerto Debut Competition in New York in 2013. Over the course of his 15-year career, he has captivated audiences in over 400 concerts in 35 countries on all six continents. His performances have reached an impressive total audience of over 100,000 people.
In his debut concert at Stadtcasino Basel, Niemczuk will take the audience on a magical journey through Chopin’s life The first part will be filled with works by the young Chopin. They were written in Warsaw, where Chopin was happy, experienced his first love, conquered the Warsaw concert halls, and the star of his talent shone ever brighter. The second part will be filled with Chopin's greatest masterpieces from his time in Paris and the rest of his short but intense life. The program includes four elegant, aristocratic waltzes; a touching Ballade or Scherzo; and a monumental Polonaise in A flat major (“Heroique”).
