Alabama Mike (real name Michael Benjamin) is not only a great singer, performer, entertainer, and songwriter, he is also an original, honest, authentic, and therefore credible blues musician. He writes strong, catchy songs that are unique and at the same time strongly rooted in the blues tradition, being reminiscent of the blues legends Elmore James, Buddy Guy, Junior Parker, Johnny Taylor, and B.B. King. His singing is raw, sensitive, and direct. He addresses the issues that characterize today's society. He embodies the whole history of the blues. He plays good old blues shuffles, ballads, up-tempo numbers, soul, and funk—and all with a pinch of humor.
