John Németh, one of the absolute best soul blues singers and harmonica players, will be back on the stage of the Atlantis in Basel. After a serious jaw operation, Németh is back to his old strength. And one of his latest CDs, "Stronger Than Strong," does him proud. Recipient of around 20 Blues Music Awards in the last 20 years, Németh was nominated for no less than six Blues Music Awards in 2023. Hardly any other singer follows the southern soul blues tradition of Otis Redding or O.V. Wright as successfully and convincingly as Németh. With his modern and at the same time retro sound, he delights old and young soul and blues fans alike. His records are great; his stage show is captivating.
In his band, The Blue Dreamers, he often promotes young musicians, all of whom are exceptional talents. Two former band members, drummer Danny Banks and bassist Matthew Wilson, will join the band once again in Basel. The line-up will also include two guitarists—Memphis cracks Joe Restivo and John Paul Keith. And as befits this sound, there are also three horn players. Last but not least, there is speculation that Dylan Triplett and Gina Sicilia, who will also be performing on this long weekend at the Groove Now Blues Weeks Basel, will also take to the stage for a few numbers.
