Groove Now — Rick Estrin & The Nightcats Feat. Alabama Mike

Atlantis Basel
Friday, 07 June

There is probably no other band that has won more blues awards than Rick Estrin & The Nightcats. Estrin's lyrics are of literary value. His stage presence, his exceptional singing, and his great harmonica playing are second to none. With Kid Andersen, the band has one of the best blues guitarists in the world. Drummer Derek D'MAR Martin is reminiscent of the great Steve Jordan. And last but not least, Lorenzo Farrell is the silent and constant creator on the keyboard and the deep bass notes.
The band is nominated again this year for a Blues Music Award in the categories “Band of the Year,” “Best Guitar Player,” and “Best Drummer.” The American trade journal Blue Music Magazine wrote: "This band is the best in the land...superior songwriting infused with wit, humor, and streetwise insights, traditional and adventurous grooves, impeccable musicianship, creative arrangements, harmonica tutorials, and savvy production...funky and original...always fresh and vital."
As Groove Now is closely associated with the band, it was important to celebrate Rick Estrin's 75th birthday in Basel—surprises are planned. The band will also be presenting their new CD, “The Hits Keep Coming,” which will be released on May 10. In addition, singer and storyteller Alabama Mike will be on stage as a special guest. He is without doubt one of the best and most interesting blues singers in international blues.
Tickets are CHF 76.90 and can be purchased through; seats are limited so come early or enjoy grooving to the music in standing room area.
