Sugar Ray Norcia (*1954) is a permanent fixture in the international top league of blues musicians. Coming from the smallest state in the United States, Rhode Island, He founded his band The Bluetones in 1979. He has been touring the world with them ever since and has always had great musicians in his band. During his career, Sugar Ray has played with most of the greats in blues, released many incredible records, and received countless awards for his work. Initially, he was active as a sideman in various blues bands. In the 1990s, he became a permanent member of the successful band Roomful of Blues, from which many world-famous blues greats such as Ronnie Earl emerged. Sugar Ray has his musical roots in Chicago blues. In 1999, he was part of the Grammy-nominated Superharps project alongside James Cotton, Bill Branch, and Charlie Musselwhite
For this concert, Groove Now has added further stars to the Bluetones' band, which already features world-class musicians. Singer and guitarist Duke Robillard, another blues legend, will be on stage, as will be the two horn players Greg Piccolo and Brian Casserly. They all know and appreciate each other from Roomfull of Blues, in which they all once played. With Sugar Ray and his great band, there is never a dull moment.
