Guided Hike in English—Blattenpass

Saturday, 14 May

Everybody has seen the yellow hiking trail markings in Switzerland. But hardly anyone wonders who is responsible for them and the trail network of about 65,000 km they mark. Behind this professional service is a great deal of volunteer work done in cantonal organizations, supported by the umbrella organization “Schweizer Wanderwege.” In the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Baselland, the association “Wanderwege beider Basel” is responsible for these tasks. About 50 volunteers also offer other services for hikers, such as guided hikes in various parts of Switzerland as well as in Alsace and the Black Forest.
This season, they will be offering for the first time guided hiking tours in English. They will be led by experienced hiking guide Hanspeter Preiswerk, who has worked in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry for many years. For more information, download the flyer "Like to Hike?" from their website.
For the hikes, you need to bring own food and drink, hiking boots, and suitable clothing for the weather.
On this day, the hike will take you from Flüh to Aesch over Blattenpass. Meeting place is at the Basel Aeschenplatz at 9:10 (tram # 10 to Flüh), with the outgoing journey at 9:22 and the return journey from Aesch departing at 15:54. You need to purchase your own tram ticket or bring your U-Abo.
Participation is free and limited to around 30 participants; register directly with your guide at 079 395 9758 or by April 19.
